The invention discloses an information transmission method and device based on an NB-IOT (Narrow Band-Internet of Things). The method comprises the steps that an NB-IOT client collects multimedia information; the NB-IOT client compresses the multimedia information into a multimedia file satisfying a bandwidth demand of the NB-IOT; and the NB-IOT client transmits the multimedia file to an NB-IOT server through NB-IOT connection established with the NB-IOT server. The multimedia information such as audios and pictures can be transmitted through an NB-IOT network, a user can obtain information such as voices and images on the site of a device through the NB-IOT whenever and wherever possible; an application range of an NB-IOT technology is expanded; application scenes of the NB-IOT technology are enriched; for example, the NB-IOT technology can be applied to the application scenes such as abnormal alarms. Audio information is compressed through adoption of a low-speed voice compression, coding and decoding technology, so a bandwidth resource of the NB-IOT is saved. Through adoption of a long connection technology, so low delay and high timeliness for voice transmission can be ensured. Different frame protocols are defined for data frames, picture frames and voice frames, so concurrent transmission of different types of files can be realized.
