The IoT system may comprise an electronic device, an IoT cloud platform, and an IoT device. An abnormality monitoring switch is provided on the IoT device. When the abnormality monitoring switch is in an enabled state, the IoT device may perform abnormality monitoring. The IoT device stores an abnormality rule. According to the abnormality rule, the IoT device may determine whether a request sent by the IoT device is an abnormal request, and whether a received control instruction from the IoT cloud platform is an abnormal control instruction. When the abnormal request or abnormal control instruction is detected, the IoT device may discard the abnormal request or abnormal control instruction. By implementing said method, when an abnormality occurs in an IoT device or an IoT cloud platform, the IoT device and the IoT cloud platform can save software and hardware resources.
