The configuration method comprises the steps of: searching a preset number of WiFi hotspots when a configuration instruction of the IoTequipment is received; verifying the searched WiFi hotspots on the basis of a preset password; and when the successfully verified WiFi hotspot exists, connecting with a remote server through the WiFihotspot so as to carry out further configuration through the remote server. According to the configuration method, the WiFi hotspot which is successfully verified based on the preset password is connected with the remote server, and configuration is conducted by means of the remote server, therefore, the external equipment only needs to modify the WiFi hotspot password into the preset password and to be placed at the preset position to complete the configuration of the IoT equipment, the IoT equipment configuration steps are simplified, the configuration operation difficulty of the IoT equipment is reduced, and the education cost for training the IoT equipment is reduced; and meanwhile, the configuration success rate of the IoT equipment can also be improved.
