The method comprises the steps that: when the NB-IoT equipment detect a condition that an NB-IoT network is offline, a GPRS search network registration process is started to access a GPRS network, and position information is sent to a system server through the GPRS network; a position server receives the position information forwarded by the system server, whether the preset range of a position where the NB-IoT equipment is located has a NB-IoT base station is judged according to the position information, and notification information is sent to the system server when the preset range of the position where the NB-IoT equipment is located has the NB-IoT base station; when the system server receives the notification information, an NB-IoT starting instruction is sent to the NB-IoT equipment; and when the NB-IoT equipment receives the NB-IoT starting instruction, an NB-IoT search network registration process is started to switch to the NB-IoT network. The seamless switching between the NB-IoT network and the GPRS network is realized, the global network coverage of NB-IoT equipment can be almost achieved, the low power advantage of the NB-IoT equipment is maintained, the NB-IoT equipment can be always online, and the stability and reliability of NB-IoT are improved.
