The method comprises the following steps: receiving and responding to a trigger operation of selecting a communication mode, and causing the multimode IoT device to enter a multimode broadcast state; in the multimode broadcast state, sending, by the multimode IoT device, N network beacons or network connectionrequest messages corresponding to the communication mode supported by the multimode IoT device to a network device, wherein N is an integer greater than or equal to 2; receiving a network connectionresponse message from the network device; and based on the network connection response message, triggering the multimode IoT device to enter a target communication mode corresponding to the network connection response message. The invention further relates to an IoT device capable of selecting the communication mode, and a computer storage medium.
