Added to the wastewater are a calcined magnesite source and a water-soluble magnesium mineral source, and there is a crystal collector under the outlet of the liquid container. There is a post-crystallization granulator or pelletizing machine to transform the harvested struvite crystals. There can be a control system to administer these steps between the components. Air can also be introduced to the mixture to assist in the production of struvite.
