Vermicomposting is a cost-effective and eco-friendly process used to treat organic waste. Vermicompost is nutrient-rich organic compost with active microorganisms resulting from the interaction between earthworms and microorganisms on the breakdown of organic matter. Earthworms convert the waste material into small particles by breaking it into the earthworm’s gut, obtaining nutrients from the harbor microbes. These processes increase t organic waste matter's degradation rate, modify the waste materials' physicochemical properties and form humus in which unstable waste matter is completely oxidized. Vermiwash is a liquid from vermicompost in a medium where earthworms are richly populated. Vermiwash is a mix of bioactive macromolecules from the skin secretion of earthworm, coelomic fluid, and mucus directly able to defend pathogenic soil microbes against the worm and free the environment from the disease.
