This novel species is characterized by having sporodochial conidiomata, septate conidiophores, phialidic conidiogenous cells and cylindrical-to-fusiform conidia. Phylogenetic analysis of the combined sequences of the internal transcribed spacer region (ITS), the RNA polymerase II second-largest subunit (rpb2), calmodulin (cmdA) and β-tubulin (tub2) confirmed that the myrothecium-like taxon represents a novel member of the genus Alfaria.
