Valve apparatus for internal combustion engines

In a two stroke I.C. engine which includes a valve body 34 having an inlet passage 27, a valve 35 is arranged so as to normally tend to open the inlet in the absence of a pressure differential and to tend to close the inlet in response to crankcase compression. The valve 35 is secured by a U-shaped guard 37, Fig. 2 (not shown) which has a central pocket to clear the heads of clamping rivets 40. The valve may be of rubber, leather or a tetrafluorethylene such as "Teflon" (Registered Trade Mark).
