1,065,578. Screw-sockets. A. A. RICE Inc. Aug. 5, 1964, No. 31882/64. Heading F2H. A resilient socket 10, e.g. of zytel nylon, has a pair of outer ribs 20, 21 overlying a pair of inner ribs 25, 26 each bearing a protuberance 30, 31, both pairs connecting an axially-bored body 15 to a larger-bored head 11 with a round, rectangular or hexagonal flange 13, which may be bevelled for countersinking, and, possibly, at least one anchoring fin 14. The bores 16, 12 are threaded if a non-tapered screw is used. When the socket 10 is located in a hole in a workpiece (52) of plasterboard or concrete, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), and a screw (50) for securing a fixture (53) is tightened in the socket, the body (15) is drawn towards the head (11), with the ribs bending outwards to secure the socket, until the extremity of the end 28 of the body is seated on an extremity 29 of the head. The protuberances 30, 31 ensure an initial bending of the ribs and maintain them in the final bent position.
