23,126. Rice, V. L. Dec. 18. Gyratory piston type.-A rotary engine of the gyratory piston type is shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The shaft D carries an adjustable crank D, on the pin C of which is mounted the ring piston B. The piston moves in the circular chamber B, and carries a rocking abutment E, which slides through and actuates an expansion valve F. The steam-chest I is connected by three ports with the auxiliary chambers H and the exhaust chamber H. By means of a segmental throttle valve I, steam can be admitted to either side of the abutment through one of the chambers H and a port g in the cylindrical reversing-valve G. The exhaust passes away through the corresponding passages on the other side of the abutment and through the segmental valve. The throw of the crank can be altered to take up wear of the piston.2>2>1>1>
