Mechanical toys.-A travelling mechanical toy is provided with endless tracks or treads B consisting of a number of blocks of wood, tin, &c., hinged together so as to form a flexible chain which is cogged or notched at the centre to allow it to be driven by large cog-wheels J and supported by small wheels K. The driving-spring L is secured to a wheel M gearing with a pinion N on one of the large wheels J. A shaft R, which passes through the wheel M and over the upper part of which the winding-stem T of the spring fits, has a projection S which engages a knob at the end of the pivoted shaft of the two-wheeled truck or steering-device D. The casing C is clamped to the sides of the box G containing the driving-mechanism by clamps H.
