2965. Rice, A. C. Feb. 5. Locks, key and permutation, for cycle stands The cycle runs in between a pair of jaws pivoted to a slide c, and pushes it back so that the jaws are made to close together by coming into contact with the edges of the aperture in the casing from which they protrude. The slide is retained in this position by detents k which are tilted into action by keys h acting on radial arms i sweeping over them. These arms depend from levers m which support rods l in a head-piece o supported by a lever frame o subject to the pull of springs o. If a properly - perforated key-plate n has been inserted into the head-piece, pressing the latter down by hand disengages the acting detents k and does not apply any non-acting ones. The slide is restored to its initial position by springs d, and a rocking frame s working with the slide resets the radial bars, at the same time locking the lever frame o. The key-plate is obtained from an office, and after prepayment has given access to the keys h through a pair of sliding doors g, the radial arms are set to agree with the key-plate and the doors are shut again. In prepaying, the coin dropped down a shoot f falls into a pan e at one end of a counterweighted latch e, and by overbalancing it clears its other end from a lug g' on one of the sliding doors g. When the opening of the doors removes a stop g from the latch e, the coin tilts it further and drops off. A prop p rising from the slide c keeps the latch e engaged while the slide is held in. The tongue c upon the slide engaging notches k in the detents k makes it necessary to push in the slide slightly before the detents can be disengaged.5>5>8>1>4>2>2>4>
