Fuente: WIPO "honey" According hereto the hammer head is shaped with a top rounded into approximately half circular form curving to the usual claw at the forward end and also at its back end to a second claw - which claw over hang the usual butt or nail driving back end for a short distance. The provision of this second claw will facilitate the drawing of nails in certain positions in which it is difficult to use the single claw a full leverage between it and the points of the front claw being obtained. Likewise the enlarged rounding of the top of the - head provides an increased leverage in the working of the front claw. The means for fastening the head to the handle consist in forming a socket at the lower side of the head the bore of which socket is made to extend part way through the head and is adapted to receive the handle end. The socket is screw threaded on its outside. The bore of the socket is preferably made of square section and the portion of the handle fitting therein is correspondingly shaped. A ferrule made in two semicircular halves is provided and adapted when placed together to surround the handle immediately beneath the socket. The outside of this ferrule is screw threaded with a thread similar to the thread on the socket and its inside is tapered inwards towards its top end. A thimble nut is provided which nut is adapted to be passed loosely over the top end of the handle before the handle is inserted in the socket and has the ferrule placed thereon and the nut is then screwed up over both ferrule and socket so as to cause the ferrule to grip tightly around the handle and to lock the ferrule to the socket. Consequently the handle is thus made fast to the head. The handle may be removed by unscrewing the thimble nut and releasing the ferrule from the socket and the handle from the ferrule and a fresh handle placed within the head and secured thereto in the manner described [ 2 figures 4 claims ].
