The invention relates to the application of a formula for controlling pests of microbial origin by combining hydrogen peroxide, 2-hydroxy-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid and water treated as a solvent, generating a method for controlling pests of microbial origin, the formula having biocidal and disinfectant activity on a complex range of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, yeasts, endospores and viruses and killing Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, microbacteria, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus mutans and Candida albicans. The effects of the formula are lethal for microorganisms with aerobic metabolism or anaerobic metabolism, with very positive effects in citrus fruit plantations with citrus greening disease (HLB) and cocoa plantations, with organic certification for exportation, which are affected by fungi, and for any other disease of microbial origin affecting harvests of fruits and vegetables. The formula can also be used for the treatment of vegetables for exportation with organic certification. In addition, microbial diseases in animals and humans can be treated and cured with this formula. The formula can be used for hygiene on surfaces, by means of cleaning products, paint formulas, cosmetics, beauty products, home economy materials, and as an antimicrobial additive for extending the shelf life of products.
