23,352. Pollen, A. H., and Isherwood, H. Oct. 12. Single recording-apparatus applied to a number of measuring-instruments.-Relates to apparatus for plotting the variation of a quantity which is observed by two or more instruments 41, 42, and consists in transmitting the mean observation to the pencil 3. When the switch 11 is in the proper position the instruments 41, 42 are connected to the step-by-step receivers 8, 9 respectively; the receiver 8 drives one member 26 of a differential gear 7 through the shafts 21, 14 and worm-gear 16, and the receiver 9 drives another member 27 of the gear through the shaft 22 and worm-gear 17, the diameter of the wheel 17 being twice that of the wheel 16. The third member 29 thus receives the mean motion of the receivers 8, 9 and transmits it to the pencil 3. When the switch is in the position shown the instrument 42 is used alone and is connected in parallel to the receivers 8, 9. Specification 7383/11, [Class 38(iii), Electric motor control systems &c.], is referred to.
