11,795. Pollen, A. H., and Isherwood, H. May 19. Gyroscopic apparatus used for operating a relay and comprising a rotor 1 mounted with three degrees of freedom and driven by one or more jets of compressed air issuing from orifices carried by the ring 2 in which the rotor is mounted is provided with means for producing a torque around one axis of freedom by means, of jets of air controlled by precession around another axis of freedom for the purpose of correcting any precessional movement due to the work done in operating the relay or to other causes. The rotor 1 is driven by air jets issuing from holes 18 in the disks 12, 12; these disks rotate with the ring 2 about the axis b, b, sliding in the valve boxes 11, 11, and the inclination of the plane of these jets to the vertical plane when precession takes place gives rise to the desired horizontal torque due to reaction. If desired, rotation of the disks 12, 12 in the valve boxes 11, 11 may through a subsidiary valve control the flow of a horizontallydirected jet or jets of air through special apertures 20, 21.1>1>1>1>1>
