Gyroscopic apparatus.-A platform rotatably mounted on board ship is maintained in an invariable angular position by a disk 0 moving with respect to the ship beneath a contact finger L kept stationary in space by a gyroscope C. By means of contact strips P, P mounted on a disk 0 of insulating material secured to the shaft V circuits are made and adapted to energize one or the other of a pair of continuously and oppositely rotating magnetic clutches M, which drive the shaft F for actuating the platform. Helical gear on the shaft restores the disk 0 to its original position with respect to the finger L. In a modification. the field of the dynamo of a continuously running motor-generator is energized to a varying degree either positively or negatively, the current from such dynamo being led into the armature of a separately excited motor geared to the platform.2>2>1>
