Fecha de publicación: 28/06/2019 Fuente: WIPO "propolis" ABSTRACT PROPOLIS EXTRACT AND METHOD OF PREPARING THEREOF The present invention relates to a method (100) of preparing a propolis extract, where the method (100) comprises the steps of harvesting propolis, air-drying the harvested propolis for moisture removal and freezing the air-dried propolis. Pieces or chunks of the harvested propolis are clumped together, preferably in a ball shape prior to air-drying to minimize oxidation in the harvested propolis. The method (100) also comprises the steps of grinding the frozen propolis into powder, freezing the propolis powder, macerating the propolis powder with ethanol and filtering the macerated propolis to obtain a propolis extract. The propolis extract is further concentrated under reduced vacuum pressure. In addition, the propolis extract may undergo further processing as required for use in industries such as skincare and healthcare industries. More particularly, the propolis is utilized as active ingredient in skincare and healthcare products.
