Fecha de publicación: 23/04/2010 Fuente: WIPO "propolis" This invention relates to a propolis extract as a potent antioxidant and hepatoprotective agent comprising propolis and honey in the ratio of 80:20 in semisolid form wherein the constituents of propolis is 50-60 percent resinous compounds, 25-30 percent beeswax, 8-10 percent ethereal and aromatic oils, 5-10 percent beepollen along with markers like Isovanillin 0.00153%, Rutin 0.0415%, Naringenin 0.5560%, 3,4-Dimethoxy cinnamic acid 0.0402%, 3-Hydroxy-5-methoxy Chinnamic acid 0.0885% and unidentified constituents 1.20% and the process for preparation thereof comprising, collecting crude propolis from the hive of Apis mellifera during March, July and November ,taking three samples in equal amount, mixing well and processing for dewaxing, keeping the mixture in glass beaker and incubating in water bath at 60-68°C for one week and separating wax daily, dissolving dewaxed propolis in 90% ethanol for 48 h, filtering and drying in shade at room temperature.
