678,822. Beehive entrances. MORETON, R. J. April 12, 1951 [April 13, 1950], No. 9120/50. Class 5(ii) Entrance to a beehive is controlled by pairs of metal slides 16, 17, one behind the other and one of them perforated, sliding in a runway of inverted U-section secured between the hive front and a wooden block 10. The runway consists of the vertical parallel faces of two angle-section members 11, the upper limbs of which are secured to the upper surface of the block 10. End-blocks 14 support the block 10, and the slides 16, 17 which are deeper than the runways may be adjusted across the opening 15 between the blocks 14 and beneath the block 10, being retained in position by bolts 18. Corner pieces 21 may be cut away from the perforated slides; by bringing the recessed ends together an entrance of diminished height is formed, not passable to mice.
