Class 52(4) A combined handle-ventilator unit for a mattress has a backing plate 1 secured to the mattress by ventilator elements 2 passing through holes 5 in the plate and having slots 6, 7, 8 through which passes a handle 3, the ends 13, 13 of which are fastened together by a wire fastener 15. The sleeve-like elements 2 are engaged by deformable teeth 12 formed about holes 5. In a modification, Fig. 5, the handle 16 is of rope passing through holes 18, 19, 20 and the elements 2 are secured by washers 22 having deformable teeth 12.
