456172 Electric brooders J BEE Sunny Bank Hambleton near Blackpool 18 June, 1935 17453 Headings AIM and M9I An electrically-heated brooder or hover comprises a frame portion 4 mounted on short adjustable legs 2 and provided with a metal roof 3, a slab or plate 6 of insulating material such as plywood board being wound on its underside with resistance wire 7 and secured by insulators to the frame 4. The space between the board and the roof is filled with insulating material 10 of a flocculent nature, while the underside of the board 6 is upholstered on its underside with material 11 such as feathers enclosed by cloth 12. Ventilating apertures 16 are formed in the board and are provided by tubes 18 having nuts and rubber washers 20 serving also to hold the upholstery in place. Slit curtains 13 suspended on wires or closely-wound coil springs are provided.
