The invention relates to the field of food detection, and particularly discloses an application of kynurenic acid in identification of apis cerana honey and apis mellifera honey. Meanwhile, the invention provides a method for identifying the apis cerana honey and the apis mellifera honey by taking the content of the kynurenic acid as an identification basis. The method comprises the steps of: if the content of kynurenic acid in a honey sample is between 0.05-23.70 mu g/kg, judging that the honey sample is apis cerana honey; and if the content of kynurenic acid in the honey sample is between 38.61-375.04 mu g/kg, judging that the honey sample is apis mellifera honey. The method provided by the invention is simple, convenient, accurate and convenient to operate and popularize, and has important practical significance for protecting legal rights and interests of honey consumers and maintaining healthy development of the honey consumption industry.
