The invention belongs to the field of food detection, and particularly relates to an application of indole-3-methyl acetate in identification of apis cerana honey and apis mellifera honey. According to the application disclosed by the invention, an endogenous small-molecule non-volatile substance indole-3-methyl acetate is used as a characteristic marker for identifying the apis cerana honey and the apis mellifera honey for the first time, and a content range of the indole-3-methyl acetate in the apis cerana honey and the apis mellifera honey is determined. Meanwhile, the invention further provides a method for identifying the apis cerana honey and the apis mellifera honey, and the method is accurate in quantification, high in stability and convenient to operate and popularize, has important significance in accurately identifying the apis cerana honey and the apis mellifera honey, is beneficial to promoting industrial development of bee products and is conductive to healthy and sustainable development of the beekeeping industry.
