The invention discloses a tobacco axillary bud growth regulating gene NtIPT1 as well as a cloning method and application thereof. The nucleotide sequence of the tobacco axillary bud growth regulating gene NtIPT1 is as shown in SEQ ID:No.1, and a coded amino acid sequence sequence is as shown in SEQ ID:No.2. The invention further discloses a cloning method of the tobacco axillary bud growth regulating gene NtIPT1. The cloning method comprises the following specific steps: A, determining an NtIPT1 gene sequence; B, extracting tobacco RNA, and performing inverse transcription, so as to obtain a first chain of cDNA; C, designing and synthesizing a specific primer according to the NtIPT1 gene sequence, and performing PCR amplification by taking the cDNA as a template; D, recycling and purifying PCR primer; E, connecting a purified product with a carrier, and converting a competent cell; F, screening positive clones, and performing PCR amplification and sequencing on the positive clones. By regulation and control of the expression of the tobacco axillary bud growth regulating gene NtIPT1, the growth length and weight of pinched tobacco axillary buds can be reduced, so that the use amount of suckering agents for the use of tobaccos is hopefully reduced, and gene resources for producing green and high-quality tobaccos and reducing the labor cost are provided.
