The method comprises the steps of judging for the first time and judging for the second time. In the step of judging for the first time, different colors of a color cycle are utilized to distinguish the colors of the tobacco leaves, and a large amount of blades which do not meet the mature requirements are quickly screened, so that the detection time can be greatly shortened; especially, for a large quantity of samples, the method has the advantages of simple operation and high detection speed; and an SPAD value is combined for judging the primarily screened tobacco leaves for the second time, so that the accuracy of judgment for the maturity of the tobacco leaves is guaranteed. The judging result according to the method disclosed by the invention is high in precision, the proportion of medium/high-class tobacco leaves in the cured tobacco leaves is effectively increased, and the economic benefit is increased.
