The invention belongs to the technical field of biology, and particularly relates to a method for predicting the release amount of smoke harmful components selected based on a whole genome and application. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring tobacco whole genome data in a candidate prediction model; screening and optimizing tobacco whole genome data in real time; and generating tobacco smoke harmful component release amount prediction data. Through genotype data in the tobacco seedling stage (early stage), release amount value data of harmful components in mainstream smoke of mature tobacco cigarette products can be obtained, and the method has the characteristics of convenience in operation, quickness, high efficiency, science and accurate and reliable result. That is to say, the release amount value data of the harmful components in the mainstream smoke of the cigarette, which is obtained through complicated treatment and detection after two years, can be calculated or simulated by utilizing the genotype data of the tobacco in the seedling stage (early stage), and the model or the method has the characteristics of convenience, quickness, high efficiency, scientificity and accurate and reliable result.
