The method specifically includes the steps that a certain quantity of fresh tobacco leaves are obtained and placed on tobacco moisture ridge surfaces or ridge furrows at the generation period of the small cutworm larvae, and then a large number of small cutworm larvae can be caught when the tobacco leaves are turned overin the daytime of the next day. Compared with a traditional manual catching method of the small cutworm larvae, the catching method of the small cutworm larvae in the fields has the advantages that the efficiency is improved by 11 times or above, the labor use amount can be effectively reduced, the catching cost is decreased, and the catching method has a great application prospect.
