A gene regulating chlorophyll degradation and coloration in okra and its applications, in the field of fruit and vegetable preservation. Through transcriptome data analysis of okra with gibberellic acid (GA) treatment, an ERF (Ethylene Response Factors) transcription factor, AeABR1 was identified. Subsequently, by constructing transiently expressed okra and transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana lines, it was confirmed that the AeABR1 gene positively regulates chlorophyll degradation in okra. Real-time quantitative fluorescence PCR (RT-qPCR) and dual luciferase assays demonstrated that AeABR1 protein reduces chlorophyll content of okra by down-regulating the expression of chlorophyll degradation gene AeCLH1, thereby participating in post-harvest color regulation. This provides preliminary insights into the molecular mechanism of AeABR1, offering a novel target gene and theoretical foundation for post-harvest preservation of okra.
