The food slicers have knife guides and optionally platforms for the knife guides and the food ingredients to be sliced. A knife guide of such food slicer has a plurality of parallel slits, each slit for aligning a knife or knives to create slices in the food ingredient. As disclosed herein, embodiments of the invention can cube food ingredients by rotating the beginning ingredients about a single axis to improve the efficiency of the cutting process.
