Fecha de publicación: -- Fuente: WIPO "tomato" Compositions and methods are provided for controlling seed size and/or seed number in grass plants by modulating expression of an endogenous Teosinte branched1 (Tb1) locus in reproductive inflorescence tissue. In particular, the methods comprise genetically modifying distal elements of an upstream distal cis-regulatory region of the Tb1 locus to alter Tb1 expression specifically in developing panicles. Such inflorescence-specific modulation enables control of seed-related traits with reduced effects on other Tb1-associated phenotypes, including tillering. Genetically modified plants, plant parts, plant cells, and seeds comprising the modified cis-regulatory regions are also provided.
