Fuente: WIPO "biotechnology" Described are methods and compositions for producing and isolating desired products (for example, one or more protein, peptide, or pharmaceutical compound species) in transgenic plants engineered to produce the desired product(s). The desired products are isolated from the transgenic plants by contacting plant tissue with an enzyme preparation under conditions effective to hydrolyze the cell wall of the cells comprising the plant tissue. In preferred embodiments, the one or more enzyme species used to effect cell lysis are expressed in the transgenic plant.
