Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis study aimed to evaluate chemical variations and similarities of different accessions of Cinnamomum keralaense Kosterm. leaf essential oils using multivariate analysis and to assess the antioxidant and antidiabetic activities of leaf essential oil nanoemulsions (EONEs). A heat map with hierarchical clustering showed that CK2 formed a distinct cluster, while CK1 and CK3 grouped because they shared similar minor components. Principal component analysis (PCA) indicated that PC1 (71.31%) and PC2 (28.69%) explained the total variance. The 1:2 ratio EONEs showed smaller particles and moderate stability over 60 days. CK1 showed superior DPPH (0.124 mg/mL) and ABTS (0.125 mg/mL) activities, as well as in other antioxidant assays. It also demonstrated greater glucose uptake (0.65-fold) and insulin secretion (1.44-fold) than the other two accessions. Moreover, the intraperitoneal glucose tolerance test showed that CK1 reduced the blood glucose level in Wistar rats. Overall, CK1 exhibits superior bioactivity, warranting further in vivo studies.PMID:42900684 | DOI:10.1080/14786419.2026.2749082
