This system includes a server device and at least one or more authentication terminals. The server device associates and stores an ID and biometric information of each of a plurality of users. The at least one or more authentication terminals retain an ID list that stores IDs of at least one or more visitors staying in a prescribed area. When it becomes necessary to authenticate a person to be authenticated, the at least one or more authentication terminals transmit, to the server device, an authentication request including biometric information of the person to be authenticated and the ID list. The server device extracts an ID included in the ID list on the basis of the ID of each of the plurality of users, and performs biometric authentication using the biometric information associated with the extracted ID and the biometric information included in the authentication request.
