Despite their significance, herbal medicinal products face unique hurdles, including competition with botanical-containing food supplements and distinct bureaucratic challenges. Recent developments, such as the ongoing revision of the General Pharmaceutical Legislation and the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Public Health (SANT) implementation report on the Health Claims Regulation, have brought these challenges to the forefront.
