Society for Medicinal Plants Research Lugar:
News
The African Research Network of the Society for Medicinal Plants and Natural Products Research has had a productive year, marked by significant events and collaborations. We commenced the year with an insightful eSeminar on “Clinical Testing of Herbal Medicinal Preparations in Africa” which brought together experts to discuss the latest developments and challenges in the field.
During the GA Annual Meeting in Kraków, we hosted an engaging workshop on “African Herbal Medicine,” providing a platform for knowledge exchange and fostering collaboration among researchers.
Other successful eSeminars focused on the “Regulation of Herbal Medicinal Products in African Countries,” offering valuable insights and promoting dialogue on regulatory frameworks; and on “Ethnoveterinary Phytomedicine – Perspectives from Africa and abroad,” highlighting the importance of traditional veterinary practices and their integration with modern medicine.
In conjunction with these events, we revised our Mission Statement to better reflect our commitment and vision for the future. The updated statement can be found here.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our collaboration partners PharmaConnect Africa, the Natural Products Research Network for Eastern and Central Africa (NAPRECA) and the African Phytomedicine Society (APSS), who have supported our activities this year. We look forward to continuing this collaboration. As the year concludes, the African Research Network remains dedicated to advancing medicinal plant research and fostering international collaboration in 2025.
Wishing you all a joyful and peaceful holiday season!
Sincerely,
Cica Vissiennon (GA-African Research Network)
