The method comprises the following steps of 1, pretreatment; 2, primary distillation, wherein cut lemongrass is placed into adistillation device for distillation to obtain steam containing lemongrass essential oil; 3, drying or secondary distillation, wherein the lemongrass after distillation in step 2 is subjected to drying or secondary distillation, and steam generated during drying or secondary distillation is collected; 4, condensation, wherein the steam in step 2 and the steam in step 3 are cooled by a cooling device to obtain a cooling liquid; 5, oil-water separation, wherein the cooling liquid in step 3 is sent to a separation tower for oil-water separation to obtain the lemongrass essential oil, or the cooling liquid is placed in a refrigerator for refrigeration for 1-1.5 hours, and an oil layer on the surface layer of the cooling liquid is collected and melted at room temperature to obtain the lemongrass essential oil. The extraction rate of the lemongrass can be increased, the production cost is reduced, and lemongrass residues after extraction can be collected for other purposes.
