The method comprises the following steps: pre-treating; washing raw materials, i.e., the eucalyptus leaves, and then performing air drying; treating the eucalyptus leaves into sheets with the size of 30 to 70 meshes; filling a material frame with the raw materials for later use; adding water and immersing; pouring the treated eucalyptus leaves into a distillation tower and adding pure water for immersing, wherein a water level needs to completely immerse the raw materials and the immersing time is 16 to 20h; heating and distilling; heating and steaming the eucalyptus leaves; heating to 80 DEG C and keeping constant temperature; generating an oil-water mixture under physical effects of temperature and distillation; carrying out oil-water separation; conveying an oil-water mixture and water vapor into a condenser and condensing; separating eucalyptus leaf crude oil and condensed water through an oil-water separator; refining the crude oil; taking out the eucalyptus leaf crude oil and adding a proper amount of powdery tartaric acid; stirring for 6 to 10min and standing for 10 to 20h;after filtering, clarifying to obtain the essential oil. According to the method disclosed by the invention, the oil yield can reach 5 to 6 percent, and the content of 1,8-cineole is improved.
