More than 100 international experts discussed measures for the protection and sustainable soil management during this Congress.
In order to showcase the profound importance that soils have for all human life and discuss measures for their protection and sustainable management the VII National Symposium on Control of Soil Degradation and Restoration was held in Bilbao from 23 to 26 June 2015. The symposium was organized by the Basque Institute for Agricultural Research and Development Neiker-Tecnalia, together with the UPV / EHU and the Spanish Society of Soil (SECS) Sciences.
The event forms part of the UN designated International Year of soils under the slogan "Healthy soils for a healthy life". The meeting was attended by over 100 international scientists, who discussed at length the most suitable methods of soil management to restore functions and maintain productivity.
Among the many presentations at the Congress which were dedicated to carbon sequestration and global change, the following was submitted "LIFE + INTEGRAL CARBON: SOIL ALGAE TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE," as published in the Congress Communications Book and which was read by Carlos Rad.
