Objectives

The main objective of this project is to obtain active ingredients with biocidal capacity present in certain plant groups waste and in whey waste, to be used as natural pesticides for the control of a wide range of plant pathogens. Once they have been identified, the other major objective of the project is to develop an industrial methodology of extraction and development of the formula in order to be applied in the field. This biocidal activity will be tested on crops such as tomato, olive trees and vines.

To achieve these objectives, CTAEX will be in-charge of the identification phase of active ingredients, their selection through laboratory tests and carrying out of toxicological and ecotoxicological tests to ensure that the selected compounds have no effect on the environment, farmer and consumer.

EAL, on its part will be in-charge of evaluating different techniques for obtaining these active ingredients on an industrial scale following technical feasibility, economic and environmental criteria to guarantee the future commercial exploitation of the pesticide. In addition, it will carry out field evaluation of the biocide properties.
