The hybrid seed in tomato is produced by using two lines or plants, one is male plant and another is female plant. The female plant is seed bearing plant from which is hybrid seed is harvested. The emasculation and cross pollination of the tomato female plants leads to development of fruits from which seeds are harvested. Presently, the colour development on these fruits is the criteria to decide the stage of harvesting. This criterion is more practical for seed growers. But the seed growers cannot decide which harvest stage based on the colour of the fruits. Since, colour development and physiological maturity of the seeds vary with different parents or male / female plants used in tomato hybrid seed production. The Tomato Seed Harvest Chart' is a portable and can be carried to the field and by looking to the colours of the fruits; one can decide the correct stage of harvest. For any seed grower though cannot read but can able to identify the stage by looking in to the colour. It is helpful for the seed organizers who are have many number of tomato seed plots and network of seed growers to distribute before fruit maturity. The Tomato Seed Harvest Chart' can be a portable can be made in dimensions of either 5x5" or 10x10 cm or 6x6" or 15x15 cm with 240 to 300 ppi resolution against white background. This chart helps in harvesting quality "seed'which have high physiological potential to grow in to a healthy plant. The payment for procurement under contract farming system is based on the viability or germinability of seed which should be as per the standards defined by the companies or seed organizers.
