The invention discloses a transcription factor for regulating flower color formation of a common melastoma plant as well as a coding gene and application of the transcription factor. The transcription factor comprises MedPAP1 and MedTT8, the amino acid sequence of the MedPAP1 is as shown in SEQ ID No. 2, and the amino acid sequence of the MedTT8 is as shown in SEQ ID No. 4. The transcription factors MedPAP1 and MedTT8 are transformed into tobacco leaves of Benishi and petals and sepals of phalaenopsis by using a transient expression method respectively, and the result shows that the coexpression transcription factors MedPAP1 and MedTT8 coding genes can enable the tobacco leaves and the petals of phalaenopsis to present red and pale amaranth, and can improve the expression level of key enzyme genes in a cyanin synthesis route of tobacco and phalaenopsis, so that the yield of the tobacco and phalaenopsis can be increased, and the yield of the tobacco and phalaenopsis can be increased. Transcription factors MedPAP1 and MedTT8 are supported to form a complex to jointly regulate and control the flower color formation of the melastoma dodecandrum.
