The invention relates to a plant coding sequence, an amplification primer and application of the plant coding sequence to optimization of plant type internode spacing. According to the coding gene, a nucleotide sequence of a tobacco NtbHLH137 gene is shown as SEQ ID No: 1; the amino acid sequence of the encoded protein is shown as SEQ ID No: 2; and the overexpression of the gene can increase the internode spacing of tobacco and improve the plant type of tobacco plants, so that the NtbHLH137 has a wide application prospect in the field of tobacco plant type breeding. The NtbHLH137 disclosed by the invention is a plant MYC transcription factor gene, and the internode spacing of the tobacco plants can be regulated by regulating the expression of the NtbHLH137. Therefore, the gene NtbHLH137 for regulating and controlling the plant type has application prospect in the field of plant type breeding and has huge economic benefit potential.
