The invention discloses a urea slow-release-type agriculture and forestry water retaining agent and a preparation method and application thereof, and belongs to the technical field of agriculture andforestry water retaining agents. According to the method, with PVA, AA, AM, Urea, KPS and MBA as raw materials, an aqueous solution polymerization method is adopted for preparing the agriculture and forestry water retaining agent with a urea slow release function. By means of the method, it is proved through experiments that the water absorption rate of resin reaches 505 g/g, the salt water absorption rate reaches 88 g/g, and the initial water absorption rate can reach 86.58 g.min/g; the water release rate of the resin reaches 68.0%; the urea in the resin can be continuously and slowly released for 13 days in distilled water. The resin is suitable for being used for water retaining, water release and fertilization of agriculture and forestry soil and vegetation restoration of waste ore andabandoned ore, and has great significance in the field of development and ecological restoration of modern water-saving agriculture and forestry in China.
