The workshop intends to express and highlight the most recent developments and innovations regarding sustainable postharvest handling issues of cut flowers and ornamental plants as follows: Sustainability of ornamental chain; Transition to sustainable transporting flowers by sea and rail for environment and energy saving; Sustainable temperature management, cooling methods and storage; Transition to sustainable postharvest care products (biocides, pulsing) and eco-friendly treatments (spray, pulsing, vase solutions); Biodegradable packaging materials; Sustainable solutions alleviating postharvest losses of cut flowers/greens and other ornamental products (pot plants, flower bulbs, etc.) to maintain their quality during postharvest handling, storage and transport, as well as to extend their vase/shelf life.
Our aim is to discuss the new developments on sustainable postharvest issues of ornamental plants on postharvest performance to encourage the sustainable and environment friendly concepts for future studies.
