The present invention relates to a method for screening antibiotic residue in chevron or goat meat, comprising the following method: (1) collecting and meat and liver sample for homogenization of meat samples; (2) sample testing which consists the process of: preparing a bacterial lawn in pre-poured media in petri plates by swabbing the surface of the agar with prepared inoculums of Bacillus subtilis or any other desired test organism, standardized using 0.5 pcnt MacFarland's standard. (3) Soaking sterile filter paper discs with the meat homogenate for inspection of the presence of zone of inhibition (3) confirmatory testing using the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) Assay (4) inspecting the tubes for no visible growth or clearing of broth which is interpreted as positive for antibiotic residue, the negative control tube should remain cloudy and (5) subjecting positive samples to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) for quantitative determination of antibiotic residue. This method was designed to carry out antibiotic residue using microbial inhibition. The present invention disclosed a method of detecting antibiotic residue that can be conducted in a minimal microbiology laboratory.
