A NECTAR-CAU food pollen substitute for rearing honeybees can be used in granule form during the dearth period or non-available of pollens in the field. The substitute is composed of a mixture of rice bean grain powder, dry yeast and local honey of Apis cerana himalaya. A NECTAR-CAU food pollen substitute contains by weight 354.7 Kcal energy, 67.29 g carbohydrate, 20.71 g protein, 0.3 g fat, 37 mg vitamin C, 0.06 mg vitamin B2, 3 mg potassium and 1 mg magnesium (dry weight basis). This NECTAR-CAU food pollen substitute composition and formulation provides nutritional food to honeybees during the dearth period. NECTAR-CAU food pollen substitute contains all the ingredients, texture and consistency that would be readily accepted by honeybees year-round, healthful and rich enough to meet all their nutrition and strength, especially for colonies preparing for over-wintering and starting population build-up in the early spring.
